Huawei to Launch Ruiying Z10 10x Zoom Module Camera with Built-In 1-Inch CMOS

Kuaikeji, September 28 — Recent leaks from multiple sources indicate that the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max Collector's Edition will get an external "big lens" attachment called the Huawei Ruiying Z10 10x Zoom Module Camera.

It pairs a 1-inch sensor with a true 10x optical zoom lens, offering a physical focal length of 9.1-91mm and an aperture of F2.0-F4.5, equivalent to 24-240mm on full frame, with powered zoom.

Unlike earlier phone telephoto adapters, which merely added an external lens element, the Ruiying Z10 has its own CMOS, zoom mechanism and focusing assembly, and attaches to the native lens ring of the Mate 90 Pro Max Collector's Edition via magnets and contact pins.

Some users have found the relevant patent drawings for the design, filed on February 11, 2026 and published on September 22.

The patent, titled "An Electronic System, Adapter Assembly, External Device and Docking Device," details the mechanical structure by which snap-fit assembly and disassembly between a terminal device and an external device are achieved through a fixing member, a snap-fit assembly and a driving member. Once the external device is secured, its second surface forms a card slot with the terminal housing.

The patent drawings show that the module is fairly large and, once mounted, completely covers the camera DECO area on the back of the phone.

In terms of optical specifications, the Ruiying Z10 has a relatively large entrance pupil diameter for a 1-inch high-magnification zoom module: φ4.55mm at the wide end and φ20.22mm at the telephoto end.

For reference, the Sony RX100M6/M7 has a 1-inch 9-72mm F2.8-4.5 lens equivalent to 24-200mm, with a maximum entrance pupil of φ16mm; the Panasonic ZS110 has a 1-inch 9.1-91mm F2.8-5.9 lens equivalent to 24-240mm, with a maximum entrance pupil of φ15.4mm; and the vivo X300 Ultra's 200mm G2 teleconverter has an entrance pupil of about 19.8mm. All are smaller than the Ruiying Z10 at the telephoto end.

It remains unclear whether the Ruiying Z10 has a built-in image processor. Blogger "Camera Notes" noted that if it has its own processor, it would be more like Sony's QX-series lens-style cameras and could work with more smartphones; if the image data is handed to the phone's SoC for processing, similar to Xiaomi's earlier modular concept camera, the experience would be better but compatibility would be limited.
