Jio Platforms, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, showcased a range of AI wearable devices at India Mobile Congress 2026 (IMC 2026). Among them, the Jio AI smart glasses support voice-operated UPI QR code payments in India, leveraging Jio's 5G network and AI ecosystem to serve everyday users.

The India Mobile Congress 2026 (IMC 2026) was held recently in New Delhi, where Jio Platforms, part of Indian tech giant Reliance Industries, unveiled a range of personal AI wearable devices. The Jio AI smart glasses stood out as the show's highlight thanks to their highly localized, practical feature set, pioneering voice-activated UPI QR code payments for a new everyday digital experience for Indian consumers.

The Jio AI glasses build on Jio's mature 5G network and AI technology ecosystem, focusing on everyday scenarios for ordinary users. Ditching cumbersome operations, they emphasize lightweight, all-scenario intelligent assistance. The lineup shown includes camera and audio-only versions, paired with companion smart earbuds to form a complete personal AI wearable system.

The glasses' standout feature is phone-free voice-based UPI payment, which radically simplifies in-store checkout. Users do not need to take out their phone; the glasses' camera automatically recognizes the merchant's UPI QR code, and a voice command initiates the payment, with confirmation completing the transaction.

The feature relies on India's UPI Circle mechanism, with a per-transaction limit of 5,000 rupees and a monthly limit of 15,000 rupees. The limits follow official UPI rules rather than company-defined standards, balancing convenience with fund security.

Beyond the core payment function, the Jio AI glasses offer a range of practical, localized AI features. Deeply adapted to India's multilingual environment, they support real-time conversational translation across multiple languages, effectively breaking down language barriers in daily communication, travel and the workplace. The device also builds in an AI voice assistant and smart meeting notes, letting users wake and control various digital services by voice while automatically capturing key information from meetings and conversations for hands-free note-taking, significantly boosting everyday productivity at work and in life.

The product also features real-time cricket commentary, tailored to Indian consumers' entertainment needs, allowing users to follow match updates while attending to other tasks without constantly checking their phone.

According to Jio, the core aim of these AI wearables is to use AI to simplify everyday tasks and improve productivity in life and work, focusing on practical local scenarios so that intelligent AI services move beyond a single interaction mode and integrate fully into how people live, further advancing digital inclusion in India.
