China Telecom's backbone 100G ROADM equipment (2026) procurement project is set to use direct procurement, covering ROADM network expansion equipment and services for five regions — North China, South China, Northwest, Southwest and Northeast — as well as the Xinjiang (China-Kazakhstan) domestic extension segment. The direct procurement suppliers are Huawei, ZTE and FiberHome.
C114, October 10 (Shui Yi) — According to the China Telecom Sunshine Procurement Network, the centralized procurement project for China Telecom backbone 100G ROADM equipment (2026) is planned to be carried out through direct procurement.
The project mainly procures the equipment and services needed for ROADM network expansion in five regions — North China, South China, Northwest, Southwest and Northeast — as well as the domestic extension section in Xinjiang (China-Kazakhstan).
The announcement states that the project must be procured from the original winning bidders; otherwise, construction, functionality or supporting service requirements will be affected. The direct procurement suppliers are the consortium of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and Huawei Technical Services Co., Ltd., ZTE Corporation, and FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies Co., Ltd.
It is understood that China Telecom has built a 100G ROADM network covering the five major regions with a total length of about 400,000 km, and the construction of the 400G ROADM network has also begun to take shape.
Zhang Chengliang, president of the China Telecom Research Institute, previously said that various applications centered on AI are driving explosive traffic growth, pushing networks and AI from operating independently toward close coordination, and ROADM all-optical networks will become the core foundation for interconnecting computing power clusters. China Telecom will continue to drive the comprehensive evolution of ROADM optical networks along four dimensions — more directions, greater capacity, faster recovery and larger scale — leading the development of global optical networks.
