C114 News, October 12 (Nanshan) — On the evening of October 11, Dongbai Group announced plans to acquire a 52.6667% stake in Hangzhou Kuailing Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. for 316 million yuan, entering the indium phosphide photodetector chip market.

After the transaction closes, KuaLing Optoelectronics and its wholly owned subsidiary Guangte Technology will be consolidated into the group's financial statements. KuaLing Optoelectronics serves as the holding and financing platform, while its wholly owned subsidiary Guangte Technology develops, manufactures and sells optical detector chips.

The deal values Kuai Ling Optoelectronics at 600 million yuan, a 764.35% premium over its book net assets.

Audit data shows that Kualing Optoelectronics posted revenue of RMB 39.7613 million and a net loss of RMB 15.0722 million in 2025; from January to August 2026, it recorded revenue of RMB 34.8693 million and a net loss of RMB 2.5170 million.

Notably, in an interview in October 2025, Ye Jinlin, founder of Kualing Photonics, speaking as chairman of Guangte Technology, claimed that "2024 revenue exceeded 60 million yuan and annual PIN-PD shipments reached 10 million units," figures that show a clear gap from the financial data confirmed by the audit report.

The announcement states that Kailing Optoelectronics' past sales in optical communications were mainly low-speed products. As demand for optical modules from data centers and telecom operators' networks continues to grow, requirements for photodetector chips in both volume and performance are also rising. Following the industry's speed evolution trend, Kailing Optoelectronics will focus on building out its high-speed product business. High-speed products already developed include single-wavelength 100G PD chips, single-wavelength 200G PD, and 50G APD chips. On the industrialization front, the single-wavelength 100G PD chip passed certification with some customers in 2026 and secured small-batch orders worth about 13 million yuan; single-wavelength 200G PD and 50G APD chips have been sampled to multiple optical module makers or leading communications customers and are in the testing and validation stage.

Records show that Fujian Dongbai Group traces its origins to the Fuzhou Dongjiekou Department Store, founded in 1957. Through stages including state-owned enterprise restructuring, listing, and expansion into group and chain operations, Dongbai Group has grown into a large modern enterprise group with a presence spanning China's three major economic circles and key central and western cities. Its business is centered on commercial retail and extends into warehousing and logistics, culture-commerce-tourism, and hotels. Dongbai Group's shares hit the daily limit at today's open, giving it a market capitalization of about 9.7 billion yuan.
