On October 9, Jiangsu Yutai Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. (Yutai Optoelectronics) was officially listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange. The company issued 17,666,667 new shares at 13.75 yuan per share, bringing total share capital after the offering to 70,666,667 shares, with the public offering accounting for 25%. Expected total proceeds are about 243 million yuan, with Guotai Haitong Securities serving as the sponsor.

Yutai Optoelectronics focuses on the "connection points" inside optical modules and data centers. The company is mainly engaged in the R&D, design, precision manufacturing and sales of optical connectivity products, and has been recognized as a national-level "Little Giant" enterprise specializing in niche sectors with distinctive products.

Financially, from 2023 to 2025, the company's revenue rose from 212 million yuan to 333 million yuan, a compound annual growth rate of about 25%, while net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company increased from 41.87 million yuan to 69.17 million yuan, up about 49% year on year in 2025. However, growth slowed markedly in 2026: revenue in the first half reached 181 million yuan, up only 4.14% year on year, and net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company was 36.8957 million yuan, down slightly by 1.21% year on year. The company explained that it has ample orders on hand and is running at full capacity, and that "capacity constraints have become the biggest limiting factor for revenue growth."

This situation of "orders waiting for capacity" echoes the current high prosperity of the optical communications industry. Optical communications market research firm LightCounting forecasts that the Ethernet optical module market will grow by 120% in 2026.

In terms of technology paths, copper interconnect is approaching its physical limits, and optical replacing copper in Scale-up scenarios is becoming the prevailing trend. NPO/CPO is driving a revaluation of passive components, with FAU and optical engines forming a rigid 1:1 pairing, and usage expanding purely with Scale-up growth.

According to another forecast by Stratistics MRC, the global data center optical interconnect market is expected to reach 20.98 billion dollars in 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 14.3%. Downstream demand is expanding rapidly while the company itself is constrained by capacity, and this constitutes the main contradiction in its current growth.

Driven by downstream demand, Yute Optoelectronics is accelerating capacity expansion. Its Anhui production base began production in the third quarter of 2026; the IPO-funded Fiber Optic Connector Production Base Construction Project is expected to start production between late 2026 and early 2027, with full capacity requiring a ramp-up period.

Once fully operational, the project is expected to add annual revenue of RMB 353 million and annual net profit of RMB 47.9564 million, with an after-tax internal rate of return of 16.53%. The company expects full-year 2026 revenue of RMB 450 million to RMB 500 million, up 35% to 50% year on year, and net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 80 million to RMB 95 million.

Notably, the strategic placement roster for this IPO sends a strong industry signal. Seven strategic investors subscribed for a total of 5.3 million shares, including 2 million shares (RMB 27.5 million) by Hengtong Group, 400,000 shares (RMB 5.5 million) by YOFC, and 500,000 shares by Wuhan Zhongxinke Capital. The three optical communications industry investors subscribed for a combined 2.9 million shares, or 54.72% of the total strategic placement.

Industry capital turning from customer to shareholder reflects, to some extent, its recognition of Yute Optoelectronics' strategic positioning value in the 400G, 800G and even 1.6T high-speed optical connectivity supply chain. The company's 400G to 800G connectivity components have been deployed in data center projects for Alibaba, Tencent and ByteDance through strategic partnerships with leading players such as Accelink Technologies, YOFC and Hengtong Optic-Electric.

Beyond data centers, fiber access is also opening up growth opportunities. As China's fiber access networks upgrade from FTTH to FTTR, combined with large-scale 5G adoption and the evolution of 6G technology, the company expects fiber optic connector demand in FTTR scenarios to be about 3 to 4 times that of FTTH.

Overall, Yute Optoelectronics' listing is a microcosm of the revaluation of passive components at the upstream end of the optical communications supply chain. As AI computing demand continues to expand and optical interconnection shifts from optional to essential, the long-undervalued optical connector segment is now being priced by both capital markets and industry investors.

However, it should be noted that Yute Optoelectronics is still relatively small in scale, and the pace of capacity ramp-up and its ability to convert downstream demand will be the key variables determining its long-term value.
